Richard G. Jones, 32° MSA

Richard George Jones was born in Steubenville, OH on December 21, 1940 to Richard B. and Gladys M. (Vogdes) Jones. He was educated in the Cheltenham and Philadelphia Public School systems.

Petty Officer First Class Jones served honorably in the United States Navy from 1959 until 1967 and in the Naval Reserve from 1975 until 1989.

Our Brother is married to the former Judy M. Leithmann. They have four daughters, Mary, Christine, Susan and Diana. The Jones resides in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia.

Bro. Jones retired in 2003 after 37 years in banking.

          He was raised to the Degree of Master Mason in Mount Moriah Lodge No. 155 in April of 1970. He served the Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1973 and as Secretary from 1982 until the Lodge merged with William B. Hackenburg Lodge in 1986. Richard is a dual Member of the Palestine-Roxborough No. 135. He served that Lodge as Worshipful Master of that Lodge in 2002 and is holding that Officer currently.

        In the Scottish Rite, Richard was a Member of the “United We Stand Class”, in the fall of 2001. Since receiving the 32 degree, our Brother has been very active at Valley Reunions serving on Marshals, Reception, and Stewards Committees. He is the Stewards Committee Chairman. He also assists the Valley Secretary at the Reunions with various duties including stamping Scottish Rite Passports.

His other Masonic Memberships include: LuLu Shriners, the Quaker City Shrine Club, and Delco Grotto of which he served as Monarch in 2006.

Bro. Richard’s other activities include: the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, the Fleet Reserve Association, the USS Yagr Reunion Association and the Willard Keith DD-775 Association.

On Saturday, July 7th, 2007 at the Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Council of Deliberation, held at the Seven Springs Resort in Champion, PA, our Brother was honored to receive the Meritorious Service Award.

We congratulate Bro. Jones on receiving this honor and thank him for his continued service to the Valley of Philadelphia.
